Processing bodies (P-bodies, PBs) are aggregates of mRNA degradation proteins, suggested 20 years ago to be sites of mRNA degradation. Later work provided evidence to the contrary, and the function of PBs remained controversial. A new pre-print from Bin Wu’s lab brings us back to this debate, with new evidence for a role in degradation. Bonus – how phototoxicity affects the outcome. (Note – updated with published paper).

On Saturday Oct 7, 2023, Hamas terrorists performed gruesome crimes against humanity. They invaded Israel territory, infiltrated into Israeli towns and villages, and horribly killed (by shooting, stabbing, burning, beheading) >1400 men, women, children and babies, kidnapped ~240 people including elderly women and babies, and injured >4200 people, and firing >7200 rockets on Israeli cities since then. Hamas terrorists did not distinguish between Jews, Arabs, Beduin, tourists or foreign workers from the Philippines, Thailand, Nepal and other countries. Hamas was revealed to be even worst than ISIS. This was the worst terrorist attack in recent history, bigger than 9/11 by several fold, when compared to population size.
